Position Description – Environmental health & safety advisor

3.Objective / Purpose of Job
The primary objective of the Environmental Health & Safety Advisor in conjunction with the Senior Quality Manager are accountable for euring that RYCO maintai effective Quality Environmental Health and Safety (QEHS) management systems which minimise risk and prevent injury in the workplace.
The Environmental Health & Safety Advisor is respoible for euring that State and Federal EHS legislation and company regulatio governing the health and safety of peonnel is strictly adhered to across all business units.
4.Specific Accountabilities (roles and respoibilities)
?Eure that RYCO’s QEHS management system is developed and implemented in accordance with legal requirements, laws and government regulatio associated with EHS in Australia
?Design EHS improvement initiatives in coultation with business units which seek to reduce the incidence of injury in the workplace. The objective should be a culture of zero harm
?Continually monitor and review risk management systems that aim to reduce risk and improve EHS practices at RYCO. The Environmental Health and Safety Advisor is also respoible for gaining employee support at all levels of the business, including upper and middle management
?Establish and maintain positive employee relatiohips to eure that employees are engaged in and committed to maintaining a safe workplace
?Engage in performance management processes in coultation with the HR team and line manage to eure employees comply with EHS policies and procedures
?Recommend, implement and measure performance indicato based on acceptable OHS standards
?Produce written and verbal reports that provide expert advice and offer recommendatio to management on EHS issues
?Eure that all employees undetand their obligatio relating to maintaining a safe workplace and undetanding RYCO’s EHS policies and procedures, including developing and participating in training activities
?Effectively communicate changes to EHS processes or policies across the business
?Develop cotructive and cooperative working relatiohips with key industry bodies including government, unio and regulatory bodies and maintain these relatiohips over time
?Encourage all employees, through their line manage, to actively display through their behaviou, RYCO’s safety values in order to minimise risks to EHS and promote zero harm in the workplace
?Systematically adapt and change EHS policies and practices in accordance with changing laws, regulatio and business needs
?Participate in the investigation of EHS incidents and eure safety improvements are implemented in a timely manner to prevent any further incidents
?Any other related tasks as directed by the Manager
5.Educational and / or Training Qualificatio & Certificates
Mandatory:
?Tertiary Qualificatio in the field of EHS
Desirable:
?Post graduate qualification in EHS
?Certificate in risk management or accident/employee rehabilitation
?Fit Aid certificate
6.Experience and Knowledge
?Minimum of two yea’ experience operating as a safety practitioner in a manufacturing environment
?Exteive knowledge of the legal requirements, laws and government regulatio associated with EHS in Australia
?Knowledge of relevant equipment, procedures and strategies to promote effective risk management and EHS practices for the protection of employees.
?Knowledge of a broad range of business functio including manufacturing techniques, technology and leadehip styles
7.Technical / Functional Skills / Any other requirements
?Possess advanced communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, to eure that complex concepts can be conveyed to differing audiences
?Possess the ability to positively influence individuals and create “win-win” situatio by developing cotructive working relatiohips with othe and maintaining them over time
?Engage in and promote the continued flow of information across all departments and levels of RYCO
?Systematically analyse processes and systems and identify areas for improvement by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutio, conclusio or approaches to problems
