The company supplies the life-sciences community in both academic and commercial spheres with itruments that are used to study the structural, thermodynamic and kinetic properties in solution of a wide range of samples. The current main product range comprises the Chirascan circular dichroism spectrometer, the SX20 stopped-flow spectrometer and the LKS.60 laser flash photolysis spectrometer.

The products from Applied Photophysics are designed to study a wide range of molecules and are widely used in research and pharmaceutical applicatio. The product portfolio includes three main technology platforms:

Circular Dichroism (CD) spectroscopy that is used primarily for looking at protein secondary & tertiary structure, protein folding and the stability of protei in different environments; this has been widely adopted in many applicatio in the fields of biophysical and biochemistry research. Circular dichroism is also widely used in the Pharmaceutical industry particularly in biotherapeutic drug development to optimize formulatio and undetand protein structure and stability. Additionally the technique has also been used in pharmacokinetics to study in-vitro the potential interactio of small molecule drugs.

Applied Photophysics' Chirascan is the most advanced circular dichroism spectrometer available today. It is particularly valuable in elucidating the higher structures of bio-macromolecules in solution, for example the secondary structures of protei, DNA and RNA, and how these structures change when stressed by temperature, pH or other mea such as drug binding.

Stopped flow technology is exteively used to study biomolecular interactio, kinetics and fast reaction mechanisms typical of many reactio in chemical and biological systems. This technology has been widely adopted and is a powerful tool for analysis of mechanisms of a great variety of chemical and biochemical phenomena.

Laser flash technology is used to measure extremely fast reaction mechanisms, typically of traient species such as radicals, excited states or io.
